Documentation for GreenHopper 6.2.x. Documentation for earlier versions of GreenHopper is [available too].

Sometimes you may need to edit the name, start date or end date of a sprint.

(info) Please note:

  • This page only applies to Scrum boards.
  • You will need to have the JIRA 'Project Administrator' permission in the project(s) whose issues are included in the sprint.

To edit or rename a Sprint,

  1. Log in to JIRA.
  2. Click the Agile link's down-arrow in the top navigation bar, then select your preferred board from the resulting dropdown menu.

  3. Your board will be displayed.
  4. Click Plan.
  5. Hover over the sprint name (or date), click and type the new name (or date), then press Enter.
(info) The Start Date and End Date are not specified until you start the sprint.

You rock!  All other comments said can't rename a sprint and it was driving me crazy to have a mis named sprint!  Here I am preaching attention to details to my team and i accidentally do someting sooooo sloppy!  And all along it's easy peasy to change it.  Thanks again.  JIRA is pretty punk rock and so far my team is liking it AND producing more...dig

I would really like to be able to rename "Upcoming Sprint 1" and "Upcoming Sprint 2" etc. to something else (for example the dates or features to be included in that sprint).

    1. This is something we'd like to do in the near future. Please watch GHS-5545 - Getting issue details... STATUS .

      +1

      Cheers,

  3. Is there any way to rename a sprint that has already been finished ? We made a mistake with numbering, renamed the current sprint from "Sprint 10" to "Sprint 9" and now face two "Sprint 9"s. We'd like to rename the (already finished) first "Sprint 9" to "Sprint 8".

    Before: sprint 7, sprint 9, sprint 10, sprint 11

    Now: sprint 7, sprint 9, sprint 9, sprint 10

    We'd like to have: sprint 7, sprint 8, sprint 9, sprint 10

same here; need to rename closed/finished sprints

I also would like to rename old sprints to align them with a new naming convention we adopted.  Is there any progress on this issue?

I can change the name of the Sprint but then when I create a new card and I have the Sprint field there, if I type what the Sprint is called it doesn't let me create the card. If I only type in the number, it still doesn't work! It is assigning numbers to the Sprints that don't match what I' am calling my Sprints so now they are not in sync. How can I change that? I want to change the name of the Sprint and it be visible so when I create a new card I know what number it is that I need to type into the box.

So unless the user is a JIRA Administrator, they cannot edit their sprint dates for themselves?

In addition to renaming closed sprints (covered in GHS-5744), i would also like to change sprint dates, and add or remove stories from sprints that may have been errantly left out/included respectively.  Not as a matter of process, but so that we can correct mistakes.

    Thanks!

Is there any way to add start and end dates for future sprints? It seems like it is only possible when starting a sprint (and only for the starting sprint). It would be a really nice feature!

    Cheers!

I agree, being able to add start and end dates for future sprints would be a very helpful feature and would allow for more advanced planning.

Is there a known feature request to either increase char count, or have a field for a sprint description? I would like to be able to add a sprint objective, but i can just about type the sprint name in the space imparted, thanks!

found the feature request, anybody else interested please vote! GHS-5997 - Getting issue details... STATUS
