Plugins are often developed separately from your application. You may wish to upgrade your plugins to more recent versions to allow them to work with your application version or simply to take advantage of new features in a plugin version. The Universal Plugin Manager (UPM) provides you with a list of plugins that have available upgrades and allows you to upgrade each plugin individually or in bulk.

I notice the old versions of plugins that have been upgraded are left in the <jira-home>/plugins/installed-plugins directory.  It would be nice if they were renamed or somehow marked as unused.   Over time, it seems like a lot of clutter will otherwise result in the installed-plugins directory and it would be nice to know what can be removed and what can't.

      +1 for that.
