Atlassian Cloud
Your cloud-hosted products are supported by the Atlassian Cloud platform. This section usually includes changes related to multiple Atlassian Cloud products, site administration, and user management.
Control your workflow more easily by connecting one or more identity providers
ROLLING OUTWe’re giving you the ability to manage a variety of business and information security requirements. You’ll now have the flexibility to connect more than one identity provider to your Atlassian organization. We also simplified the workflow for managing user authentication and provisioning. You can now do it from one place.
You now have two types of directories for managing users in your organization: a local directory and an identity provider directory. The key changes are:
- We moved user login and sync to the new Identity providers screen
- You have two authentication policies by default: one for your local directory and one for your identity provider
- We automatically associate your domain’s user accounts with a linked directory.
Learn more about identity providers
To see your identity provider directory, go to admin.atlassian.com > Security > Identity providers.
Take control of your domain’s user accounts
ROLLING OUTWe’re giving you more flexibility to manage user accounts for your domains. You’ll be able to control how and what specific user accounts you’d like to manage.
When you verify your domain, you can:
- Choose how to claim new users for a domain — automatically or manually
- Choose to claim all users or some new users for a domain
View more information about changes to your organization
ROLLING OUTWe’re introducing product updates. Scroll or search through a list of release notes and choose to read more about the details of a specific change and when it’s coming to each of your products right from within your organization administration.
To find and view a release note:
- Go to admin.atlassian.com. Select your organization if you have more than one.
- Select Products > Product updates.
- Select the release note card from the list, search for a specific release note, or filter the list.
Prevent users from inviting anyone to your products
ROLLING OUTWe’re giving you the ability to prevent user invites for your products. You’ll have more control over who can invite people to your products and how they do it.
When you prevent user invites, existing users are unable to invite people through that product. Organization admins can still invite anyone and give product access from admin.atlassian.com.
To prevent user invites:
- Go to admin.atlassian.com.
- Select Products > User access settings > User invites.
- Select the Don’t allow invites dropdown option for the product.
Keep group names up-to-date
ROLLING OUTCorrect pesky spelling mistakes and keep your group names up-to-date with the ability to rename groups.
This feature is currently in beta and is only available for organizations with the improved user management. This feature isn’t currently available for groups used within some Jira administration settings. Check out the Community announcement.
To rename a group:
- Go to admin.atlassian.com. Select your organization if you have more than one.
- Select Directory > Groups.
- Select the group that you want to rename.
- Select the More actions icon (•••) next to Add group members.
- Select Edit group name and enter a new name.
- Select Save changes.
Use different accounts without logging on/off
ROLLING OUTWe’re implementing site-scoped sessions for our users on Jira Software, Confluence, Jira Service Management, Jira Work Management, Jira Product Discovery, and Compass.
You can now use different accounts to access different sites at the same time, without needing to switch accounts or use different browsers.
For example, let’s say you have a personal Confluence site and a company Confluence site. With scoped sessions, you can use account A to access your personal Confluence site and account B to access your company Confluence site - at the same time, in the same browser.

Bug fixes to team-managed issues in backlog
ROLLING OUTThis bug fix corrects unexpected behavior with issues in team-managed projects. Bug fix details:
- Team-managed epics and base-level issues on company-managed backlogs will render the same way as issues from company-managed projects.
- Team-managed base-level issues now show in the backlog (previously they were not included).
- Team-managed base-level issues are displayed in the same way as company-managed base-level issues. Previously, team-managed base level issues with a parent were displayed in the same way as subtasks.
Issue view: Maximum number of displayed child issues increased to 500
ROLLING OUTWe heard feedback that some of you needed to display more than 100 child issues on an issue. That's why we're increasing the maximum number of child issues you can see from an issue to 500. You can still have more than 500 child issues, but you'll have to view them in search.
Allow all licensed users to view and edit the contents of an Insight custom field
ROLLING OUTWe've simplified the permissions for the Insight custom field so that you can leverage it across Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Jira Work Management, and your portals.
Portal users already have temporary "Object Schema User" roles so they can view and select objects in the Insight custom field when they appear in the portal. Now, Jira Software, JSM, and JSW users will also have temporary "Object Schema User" roles that allow them to view and edit the contents of an Insight custom field within issues where they already have existing edit permissions.
These roles will not count towards the total number of users on your license.
Sorting pinned fields in an issue
ROLLING OUTIf you've pinned multiple fields, you can now drag and drop your pinned fields to change the order and keep your favorite ones at the top.
Background improvements to help you navigate Jira while creating issues
ROLLING OUTNow, any issues you're creating will stay loaded with any data you've input until you hit Create, even while you move around Jira. Previously, when you navigated to certain pages in Jira, we would do a refresh of the page which would result in loss of data if you were in the middle of creating an issue. We've made some background improvements so you won't lose the data on an issue you're creating while you navigate around Jira.
View risk insights in Jira mobile
ROLLING OUTWe’ve added the risk insights to the change issues in your Jira mobile app — iOS v165.0.0 and Android v104. Risk insights help you improve your change approval processes by providing better information about your affected services. In the panel, you can view the upcoming and conflicting changes and recent and ongoing incidents.
Before viewing this information, make sure you’ve added a planned start date, planned end date, and at least one affected service.
Refine your search with more fields
ROLLING OUTFrom your project’s sidebar, go to Issues > More+ to use fields like label, fix version, component, and parent to find your search results.
Additionally, in list view, select Configure columns and pick the most important fields you want to see. Drag and drop columns to customize your view further.
Restyle paragraph field responses with rich-text
ROLLING OUTFormat responses with form's new Paragraph field that now supports rich-text editing. Providing all basic text formatting capabilities such font size, color, text emphasis; plus the ability to add bullet points, columns, and tables to encourage more detailed responses from your customers. To get these capabilities, simply change existing Paragraph (Plain text) fields in your form with the new Paragraph field.
Add links to external resources in your portal
ROLLING OUTGive your customers access to helpful self-service knowledge, communication channels like chat, request forms, and much more from tools outside Jira Service Management right from your portal.
Learn more about sharing external resources and third-party tools directly from your portal.
Use the GitHub for Jira app to connect GitHub Enterprise, instead of DVCS
ROLLING OUTJira admins making a new GitHub connection for a new organisation now need to install the GitHub for Jira app. The app functions just like the DVCS Connector, but with better security features and improved performance.
This only applies to new GitHub connections in new organisations. Existing connections using DVCS are not affected.
Site Import: user migration options will no longer be available
ROLLING OUTWe’re discontinuing user migration options for Server to Cloud migrations using Site Import: Merge with existing cloud users and Overwrite existing cloud users. You'll need to use the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant to migrate users.
Learn how to migrate users and groups with Jira Cloud Migration Assistant
New 'Team' custom field in Jira
ROLLING OUTAdmins can now enable a new ‘Team’ custom field from project settings. This allows project users to assign Jira issues and tasks to Atlassian teams.
Change in schema type for Teams field in Jira
ROLLING OUTWe changed the JSON schema type of the Team field from 'any' to 'team' in the REST API responses. The actual Team data has not changed.
If you have an existing integration with the Team field via the REST APIs, please check if you need to modify your integration.
Jira Software
Advanced Roadmaps - Filter by Issue priority
ROLLING OUT NEW THIS WEEKOnly show the issues that are important in your plan! In the Filters menu in Advanced Roadmaps, you'll now find the option to filter by Priorities.
Advanced Roadmaps - Viewers can view settings pages
ROLLING OUT NEW THIS WEEKThose with Viewer permissions in Advanced Roadmaps (which is to say, those without Editor permissions) can now view the Plan settings page.
They won't be able to change anything, but knowledge is power!
Move data between sites with cloud-to-cloud migration
ROLLING OUTWe're introducing cloud-to-cloud migration to make it easier for you to move users and projects from one cloud site to another. Cloud-to-cloud migration can help you combine data between two or more cloud sites, split a cloud site into multiple cloud sites, duplicate a cloud site, or move specific projects from one cloud site to another.
Org and site admins can access this feature by logging in to the cloud site you want to move your users and projects from, then going to Settings > System > Migrate cloud site.
Updates to how you create projects in Jira
ROLLING OUTCreating projects in Jira is now simpler with our new template library. Browse templates across the Jira products you own, with additional information to assist you in finding the template that best fits the way your team works.
Additionally, we’ve renamed our project types (next-gen and classic) to make them clearer and more descriptive:
- Next-gen projects are now named team-managed projects. The functionality itself remains the same and continues to be ideal for independent teams who want to control their own working processes and practices in a self-contained space.
- Classic projects are now named company-managed projects. Setup and maintained by Jira admins, company-managed projects remain the best choice for teams who want to work with other teams across many projects in a standard way, such as sharing a workflow.
Advanced Roadmaps - Teams are coming to Advanced Roadmaps
ROLLING OUTWe’re pleased as punch to announce that we’re combining the Shared teams in Advanced Roadmaps with the Atlassian Teams in Jira Software. Once this rollout's complete, you'll be able to use the same team in both places as well as across other Atlassian products!
Advanced Roadmaps - Sample Plan
ROLLING OUTAdvanced Roadmaps can do so many different things that it's hard to describe it succinctly. It's easier to show you.
With this update, you can create a sample plan using simulated data. Then you can manipulate that data to learn how Advanced Roadmaps lays out your project and helps you plan.
To create your sample plan, select Create sample plan from the Plans dropdown menu.
Start your first project faster
ROLLING OUTCreating a new Jira site is now simpler and smoother. When you’re creating your first project, some settings have been preselected and moved under More details, and it’s also quicker to choose a different template.
Jira Roadmaps - Resize the issue view
ROLLING OUTYour issue details panel in the project roadmap is now resizable.
To change the size of your issue view, click and drag you panel to however wide you want it to be.
Improved accessibility for the insights panel
ROLLING OUTWe made stylistic changes to improve accessibility and create a better insights experience. You'll notice extra content on the insights panel to help differentiate between the board, backlog, and deployments insights.
Select Insights to open up the panel.
Simplifying how you view issues in a version
ROLLING OUTWe’ve given versions in the Releases feature a more streamlined interface for easy issue tracking.
Instead of switching between status tabs in the Issues section, now use simple filters and sorting to quickly find what you’re looking for.
Plus, decide which information is most important to you (like assignee, development info, or feature flag status) and hide the rest.
To see the new Issues section:
- Select Releases in your project sidebar
- Select your version from the list.
- Scroll to the Issues section.
To decide which info to show and hide, look under Display information in the actions menu (...).
Add team-managed issues to epics in cross-project boards
ROLLING OUTIf you're using cross-project boards with issues from different project types, you can now add team-managed issues to team-managed epics. This is a minor fix that improves on existing functionality.
Jira Service Management
Jira Service Desk is now Jira Service Management! We’re in the process of rolling out some exciting new features for all users. Learn more about these new features.
Jira Service Management: Open queue issues in issue navigator
ROLLING OUT NEW THIS WEEKThis feature gives agents a quick one-click button to open issues from the current queue in Jira's issue navigator. Agents can perform actions currently unavailable in the queue view, including export issues and share results, plus the ability to quickly change a JQL without affecting other users.
Learn more about working with search results in the issue navigator

Simplified object schema configuration and streamlined importing
ROLLING OUTConfiguring an object schema is now streamlined and simplified. When configuring an object schema, you can create new reference types and statuses by selecting Create a reference or Create a status.
We’ve also simplified how imports are created. To create a new import, select Create import, select your import type, and then select Create. Object types and attributes will be automatically created for you.
On the other hand, if you’d like to create object types and attributes manually, you can turn off Automatically create object types and attributes and map your object types and attributes yourself.
Finally, Process Results has been moved into the Imports tab, where you can see the history of your completed imports by selecting View history.
Learn more about importing objects into Jira Service Management.
Create post-incident reviews from incidents and export to share them with your team
ROLLING OUTWe’ve added new functionalities to the post-incident reviews (PIRs) to help you manage your PIR processes better and share them with your team once it’s published.
Create PIR from incident detail
Whether your incident is resolved, closed, or still open, use the Add PIR button in the incident detail to create and start working on your PIR. This will link the incident as a Primary incident to your PIR, and you’ll be able to view a summary of the incident as well. We’ll update the summary as your incident is updated.
Incident timeline
Use the Timeline button to view all activities of the primary incident. You can find the button on the primary incident bar. The Timeline is constantly updated as new activities are added to the primary incident.
Share PIR with your team
Go to the Actions menu (…) in your icon bar and select one of the export options to convert your PIR into a PDF, Word, XML, or a Confluence page (if you have a connected Confluence site). The export will include the description, summary, and detail information of the primary incident, and a description of the PIR.
Create help topics to let customers find what they need faster
ROLLING OUTA topic lets you group request forms and knowledge base articles from across portals. You can create topics in your help center to help your customers find the relevant resources or request forms they need faster and improve self-service.
For example, you could create a topic called ‘New hire basics’ to bring together all help resources that a new hire would need. New hires who come to your help center can then get all the information and help they need under one topic, without having to keep track of which team’s portal to go to.
Auto-fill the 'What team is this for?' field on the create project screen for most template selections
ROLLING OUTPreviously, the selection of some Jira Service Management templates (eg Legal, HR, and Facilities) would result in the 'What team is this for?' field on the Create project screen being auto-filled with a corresponding team type.
This auto-fill functionality has now been extended to our new business templates like Marketing, Analytics, Finance, Sales, and Design. Filling the field based on template selection (for most of the service management templates) is intended to help speed up the project creation process, without restricting the ability to choose another team type if required.
Enter your team type when creating a new project
ROLLING OUTWhen you're creating a new service project, we ask you to select the type of team that will use the project so that we can recommend a template to help you get started quickly.
We're introducing a new free text field so that if your team type isn't listed, you can choose 'Other' and then enter your team name.
Providing this information helps us learn what other teams we need to cater to when making template updates and feature recommendations.
Quickstart onboarding added to business templates
ROLLING OUTWe've added the Quickstart onboarding panel to all of our project templates with instructions for key tasks to help you get set up in your new Jira Service Management project.
Get step-by-step instructions for:
• customizing request types
• reviewing request channels
• reviewing customer notifications
• inviting team members
Filter your asset's connected issues
ROLLING OUTWe've added functionality to the object view inside Assets. Before this change, the object view's connected Jira issues panel would only display Unresolved connected issues. Now, you can customize the results with:
- a dropdown to apply a JQL filter
- a checkbox to show/hide resolved issues
- a text input to filter on the connected issues' summary and description fields
Use templates to create knowledge base articles
ROLLING OUTYou can now use templates to create articles in the knowledge base. These templates come in handy when you want to write structured and consistent articles across the knowledge base.
Updated project creation experience
ROLLING OUTWe've simplified the process of creating new projects to make it easier to get started. When you select a project template, you will now go straight to the screen where you can add your project's details instead of viewing the details for the template. You can still view the details of the template by selecting See details.
We've also redesigned the form and put some of the more advanced settings in an accordion.
For company-managed projects, these settings include:
• Project key (auto-generated using your project name)
• "Use settings from an existing project"
For team-managed projects, these settings include:
• Access settings (set to private by default)
• Default language (set to the site language by default)
• Project key (auto-generated using your project name)
Bitbucket repo, Jira projects, stakeholder and responder users now sync on services inside Assets
ROLLING OUTServices that live inside Assets in Jira Service Management will now automatically sync their project, Bitbucket repo, stakeholder and responder users attributes with their relevant sources and the service registry.
To update information on these attributes:
- From your service project, go to Services
- Select the service you want to update
- Update the field
This change will now automatically sync with the attribute in Assets > Services > Selected service > Attributes.
New automation trigger: Alert note added
ROLLING OUTThis trigger starts the rule when a new note is added to an alert in Opsgenie. For example, you can configure a rule to send an email when a note is added to an alert.
You can find this trigger under Alert triggers in Global Automation.
Add links to external resources from across portals to your topics
ROLLING OUTAlong with request forms and knowledge base articles, admins can now add links to external resources from multiple portals to their topics.
External resources – created in service projects – give customers access to helpful self-service knowledge, communication channels like chat, request forms, and much more from tools outside Jira Service Management directly from your portal. By bringing them to topics, your customers will be able to find the relevant resources they need even faster, right from the help center home page.
New design template for team-managed projects
ROLLING OUTWe're rolling out a new project template to help design teams set up their team-managed service project to handle incoming requests. The design service management template provides teams with a central place to easily track and manage design requests, from new asset creation to revisions.
Learn more about creating a project using a service project template
New sales template for team-managed projects
ROLLING OUTWe're rolling out a new project template to help sales teams set up their team-managed service project to handle incoming requests. The sales service management template provides teams with a central place to manage, track, and report on sales requests from quote support to contract reviews.

Jira Work Management
Group your work in the board view
You can now group the items in your board by certain attributes. Organize and visualize your work how you want to. For example, you can check high-priority tasks to see that nothing is blocked or see individual team members' workloads at a glance.
Stay in control of how you want to view your work. However you choose to group your board is visible to you only. You can group your work by:
- Assignee
- Status
- Priority
- Category
Schedule items in your calendar view
You can now add a due date to items in your business project by dragging them onto your calendar. Currently, items with no due date will not be shown in your calendar. To display these items on your calendar, you must add a due date.
To schedule an item on your calendar, you can:
- Select the Unscheduled button in the top right of your calendar. This will open up a drawer to the right side of the screen.
- Schedule an item by dragging it onto the calendar to the date that it’s due.
Jira Work Management - Bulk copy and delete
ROLLING OUTYou can now bulk copy and delete items in your lists. Managing your lists in a few clicks ensures you and your team can have increased efficiency.
Jira Work Management - Confluence linked page in list view
ROLLING OUTYou can now add a new column to show the Confluence pages that are linked to a specific item in Jira Work Management. Not only that, but you can link, unlink, or view the Confluence page directly from the list view.
Jira Work Management - Software releases in Jira Work Management's calendar integration
ROLLING OUTGet a clear picture of an engineering team's progress, then plan what work needs to be done on the business side in Jira Work Management with shared release dates.
Stay informed when the engineering team changes their release estimates and better plan marketing campaigns or customer-related tasks.
If your project has releases enabled, you’ll be able to access release details from your software teams such as status, dates, and progress directly in the calendar view. Integrate this with your team’s planning to set work accordingly.
Jira Product Discovery
Use different accounts without logging on/off
ROLLING OUTWe’re implementing site-scoped sessions for our users on Jira Software, Confluence, Jira Service Management, Jira Work Management, Jira Product Discovery, and Compass.
You can now use different accounts to access different sites at the same time, without needing to switch accounts or use different browsers.
For example, let’s say you have a personal Confluence site and a company Confluence site. With scoped sessions, you can use account A to access your personal Confluence site and account B to access your company Confluence site - at the same time, in the same browser.
Confluence
Express yourself with reactions
ROLLING OUTReactions are an interactive, lightweight way to express yourself on content in Confluence. Now, instead of being able to only like or comment on a page, you and your teammates can choose from dozens of emoji reactions (including custom ones).
At the bottom of a page or blog post, choose an existing reaction, or select the "Add a reaction" icon to add your own. You can also react from the activity feed.
Improved PDF export
ROLLING OUTWe've improved the way Confluence Cloud exports to PDF so that the exported PDF more accurately matches what the Confluence page actually looks like. For example, tables, mentions, dates, and other elements will all render the same way they do on the Confluence page.
Be more expressive with panels
ROLLING OUTIn addition to the five preset panel options, you can customize panels by choosing one of the 20 background colors available.
Panels can have emojis, or you can remove the emoji to meet the needs of your content. The emojis available to you are the same set that you already use in Confluence; this includes custom emojis you and your teammates added.
1. Add a panel to a page by typing /custom panel or by selecting Custom panel from the insert menu.
2. Use the floating toolbar to choose a background color and pick an emoji if you want one.
Automatically get a personal space
ROLLING OUTA personal space in Confluence is a place of your own to jot down new ideas, introduce yourself to your team, keep track of tasks, store important items or files, polish content before sharing with others, and more.
You can choose to leave the space open for others to visit and collaborate, or you can restrict the pages so that no one else can see them.
If you don't already have a personal space, one will be created for you after you've logged in and viewed a page. There are three ways to get to your personal space:
- Select Spaces in the global navigation bar. Your personal space is automatically starred for easy access.
- Select your profile icon at the top right of the global navigation bar and select Personal Space.
- Select Home in the global navigation bar. All starred spaces are shown on the right.
Confluence Premium: Automation for site and space admins
ROLLING OUTAdmins of Confluence Premium and Confluence Enterprise can leverage automation to manage content as it scales. By creating rules in an “if this then that” format, admins can automate recurring processes that keep spaces organized and up to date.
- Confluence site admins can create and edit automation rules to run at the global or space level
- Confluence product admins can create and edit automation rules in the spaces they manage
- Confluence space admins can create and edit automation rules in the spaces they manage (this includes end users with a personal space) — unless a site admin turns off rule permissions
Confluence site admins, to open Global automation, go to Settings and select Global automation from the sidebar. Product and space admins, to open automation for a space that you manage, go to Space Settings > Automation and select Rules.
Sort resolved comments by recency
ROLLING OUTYou can now sort resolved inline comments by newest and oldest order. By default comments will be sorted newest first.
Create a new team on behalf of others
ROLLING OUTUsers who create a new team have the option to remove themselves as a member. Previously, any user who creates a new team becomes a member by default.
To create a new team and remove yourself as a member:
- Select People from the top menu.
- Select Start a team.
- Under Invite people to your team, select X beside your name.
Indent and outdent content easier from the toolbar
ROLLING OUTThe editing toolbar now includes indentation buttons, making indenting and outdenting content easier for those unfamiliar with the existing tab and shift + tab keyboard shortcuts.
You can use the buttons to indent the following content:
- Top-level paragraphs and headings
- Bullet lists
- Numbered lists
- Task lists
Copy content with ease via the floating toolbar
ROLLING OUTWe’ve updated the floating toolbar experience within the editor. The floating toolbar now includes a copy button, which makes copying page elements easier than ever!
You can use the button to copy the following content:
- Tables
- Panels
- Expands
- Media (images & video)
- Links
- Layouts
- Code snippets
- Extensions and Macros (like the Table of Contents)
Discover which template was used to create a page
ROLLING OUTYou can now see the template that was used to create a page in the byline next to Created by.
This improves discoverability of popular templates, enabling you to quickly get started creating your own pages.
- Go to a page that's been created with a template
- Hover over the "with a template" part of the byline to see the template name and a description
- Select View to open the template in the template browser, then Use template to create a page with that template
Search Compass from the quick-search flyout in Confluence
ROLLING OUTYou can now search for Compass components and teams from the quick-search flyout in Confluence.
Bitbucket
Project permissions are here. Now you can grant access across all repos in a project
ROLLING OUT NEW THIS WEEKWe will be incrementally rolling out project permissions over the next few weeks. Project permissions allows admins to grant access to all repositories, old and new, within a project without having to manage each repository individually. Projects have four hierarchical levels of permissions: Admin, Create, Write, Read. Each permission in the hierarchy includes all permissions below it. For example, ‘Admin’ includes ‘Create, Write, and Read’ and ‘Create’ includes ‘Write and Read’.
For more information on how to set up and grant project permissions, refer to our support documentation.
Pull requests are now immutable
ROLLING OUTBitbucket Cloud pull requests are now immutable. Note: You might come across pull requests that were merged before this change was implemented, so you may see some changes that are not relevant anymore.
Access projects and workspaces securely using access tokens
ROLLING OUTProject access tokens and workspace access tokens are per-project and per-workspace passwords used for scripting tasks and integrating your tools with Bitbucket Cloud. They're similar to repository access tokens. These tokens are designed for a single application with limited permissions, so they don't require two-step verification. They are tied to a project or workspace, not a user's account. This restricts the token's access to a single resource and any repositories under that resource, providing a more secure solution than user-based authentication methods such as app passwords.
Compass
Use different accounts without logging on/off
ROLLING OUTWe’re implementing site-scoped sessions for our users on Jira Software, Confluence, Jira Service Management, Jira Work Management, Jira Product Discovery, and Compass.
You can now use different accounts to access different sites at the same time, without needing to switch accounts or use different browsers.
For example, let’s say you have a personal Confluence site and a company Confluence site. With scoped sessions, you can use account A to access your personal Confluence site and account B to access your company Confluence site - at the same time, in the same browser.
