When attempting to delete an existing issue type, you may encounter the error message "Note: This issue type cannot be deleted - there are currently 2 matching issues...":

Existing issues in archived projects

It is not possible to delete an issue type if there are existing issues that use that type. However, sometimes it is difficult to locate these issues. This is most likely because they belong to a project that has been archived.

If you know which project contains the issues in question, you can do the following:

1. Got to Settings > Projects > Archive (or use the shortcut "gg" and search "archive").

2. Find your project and select ••• > Restore.

3. Locate the issues that use the issue type you wish to delete. Change their issue type. You can now archive the project again if you wish.
4. You will now be able to delete the issue type.
