Symptoms

Confluence login page is not properly rendered in Internet Explorer, as per the following screenshot:

Diagnosis

Cause

This issue occurs if the server sends a "Cache-control:no-store" header or sends a "Cache-control:no-cache" header.

Resolution

  1. Include these Valve elements in the <Context> element of <confluence-install>/conf/server.xml (if your server.xml has no <Context> element configuration, check in <confluence-install>/conf/context.xml instead) :

    <Valve className="org.apache.catalina.authenticator.FormAuthenticator" securePagesWithPragma="false" />
    <Valve className="org.apache.catalina.authenticator.NonLoginAuthenticator" securePagesWithPragma="false" />
  2. Restart Confluence
