Confluence or JIRA is not starting after updating Linux Kernel to 3.13.0-155 - Ubuntu 14.04.5LTS

Problem
Confluence or JIRA can't be started by a Linux service or by executing startup script after upgrading linux kernel to 3.13.0-155 version.
Environment
- Ubuntu Linux 14.04.5 LTS running on 3.13.0-155 kernel
- All JIRA/Confluence versions are affected
Cause
Issue is caused by a bug in linux kernel https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1787127
As a result, it is not possible to start any java-based applications including JIRA and Confluence.
Workaround
- Use older kernel Linux 3.13.0-153 during booting process
Resolution
- Upgrade kernel to version 3.13.0.156 which contains fix to the bug
