Problem
Edit in Office 2013/2016 does not work on Windows 7 with Confluence running on SSL/HTTPS and using TLS1.1 and above.
Diagnosis
Environment
- Only Windows 7 users are affected
- Windows 8 and above do NOT encounter this problem.
Cause
Office on Windows 7 does not support servers that only support TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2, this is known to be a large issue for some customers.
Resolution 1
For users that have Windows 7 and do not want to support the older SSLv3 and TLS 1.0 protocols on their servers
Windows 7 has a hotfix and a registry key to allow for TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 support for its web service API, this allows Office to be able to access Confluence on Windows 7.
See this KB for more information:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3140245
Resolution 2
Enable support for SSLv3 and TLS1.0 on your server.
