Summary

The new user will be added to the default group, confluence-users, automatically.  If the group does not have "can use" permission to use Confluence or group not exist, the email for creating a password will fail.

Environment

Confluence 5, 6, 7

Diagnosis

The following error can be found in the application log:

DEBUG [http-nio-8090-exec-243] [confluence.mail.notification.DefaultNotificationsSender] isValidUser Send Notification: The user test005 was not a permissible recipient.

Cause

If the default group, confluence-users, does not have permission to use Confluence or does not exist, the email to create a password cannot be sent out.

Solution

If the confluence-users group does not exist, it should be created and assigned "can use" permission to use Confluence from here:

  • Go to    > General Configuration > Global Permissions
