Symptoms

Edit in Word in Firefox produces a Java Script error in the browser containing the following:

uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND) [nsIProcess.init\]" nsresult: "0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)" location: "JS frame :: file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/USERNAME/Application%20Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/
x98i7cjx.default/extensions/webdavlauncher@benryan.com/components/URLLauncher.js  :: anonymous :: line 89"  data: no] Line 0  doEditInOffice(Object name=contextPath, "/plugins/servlet/editinword/ARG/PageTitle.doc", "Word.Document", Object name=usePathAuth value=false)batch.js (line 9705) anonymous(Object originalEvent=Event click type=click)batch.js (line 9538) anonymous(Object originalEvent=Event click type=click)batch.js (line 26) anonymous()

This may happen after you have upgraded into a new Microsoft Office Suite.

Cause

The Firefox file extension may be corrupted.

Resolutions

To resolve this problem,

  1. In your Firefox Browser, choose Tools > Add-ons > WebDAV Launcher > Options. This will bring up a pop up window, with a list of office extensions and the file handler. Delete each of them if you are using Microsoft Office.
    OR
  2. Delete Firefox's own file extension. Refer to Mozilla's documentation.
