Symptoms

The preview pane of the view file macro will not display the document, and the refresh button will be grayed out. The same applies for similar macros such as viewdoc, viewxls,... You can read more details about this issue in CONFSERVER-27361 - Adding viewfile, viewdoc,... macros using wiki markup does not generate the right XHTML.

Diagnosis

- Create / save an empty page and attach a Word file
- Go into the "Edit" and "Insert" "Wiki Markup", the markup to insert is:

{viewfile:name_of_attached_word_file.doc}

- Save the page, in viewing mode the content of the word file should be shown as expected
- In "Edit" mode again, "Edit" the macro. This shows an empty screen.

Resolution

The right way to insert that macro is:

{viewfile:name=name_of_attached_word_file.doc}

Inserting the macro from the macro browser is another alternative.
