Symptoms

When running on Confluence version prior to 5.4, user is unable to update/apply SU for Confluence Plugin License with Reason "XML Empty or truncated, expected ~1Kb".

Cause and Resolution

SU for Confluence plugin doesn't support Marketplace Licensing for Confluence prior to version 5.4. Check this article for more details:
