Summary

Trying to integrate Jira with Slack fails with the below error.

Jira error: something went wrong while creating project connection

Cause

The integration may fail because of the below reasons:

1. If Slack integration is not enabled from https://<instancename>.atlassian.net/plugins/servlet/ac/jira-slack-integration/addon-config-page.
2. Browse projects permission is not granted to the atlassian-addons-project-access project role.
3. User does not have "Browse project" permission for the project

Solution

1. The site administrator needs to enable Slack integration from https://<instancename>.atlassian.net/plugins/servlet/ac/jira-slack-integration/addon-config-page. 

2. For any add-ons to access the project, the atlassian-addons-project-access project role should have Browse projects permission. Refer to our public documentation Manage project permissions for the steps to add users, groups, or roles to a permission scheme and grant the project permissions. 

3. Grant user doing this integration "browse project permission"
