Summary

Team-managed projects in Jira Cloud don't have the same Sprint Report visible on company-managed projects. You can access the Sprint Report for your team-managed projects using boards.

Create the Sprint Report using a Board

We'll need to first create a filter that includes the issues from your team-managed project.

After this, we'll create a new board based on this filter. The new board is where you'll be able to view the Sprint Report.

Create the filter

  1. In Jira's top navigation, click Filters > View all filters
  2. Click Create filter
  3. Select the team-managed project you'd like the report for
    1. Using Basic search, select from the project dropdown
    2. Using JQL search, input the JQL to search for your project
  4. Click Save filter and choose a memorable name for it
    1. You can also adjust the privacy of the filter now if you want

You're done! Next, we'll create a board using this filter.

Create the board

  1. In Jira's top navigation, click Your work > Boards > View all boards
  2. Click Create board
  3. Sprints and sprint reports only exist on Scrum boards, so choose Create a scrum board
  4. Select
  5. Choose a name for your new board, search for the filter you created in the previous step, and select whether you want this board's location to be a project, or your own personal profile
    1. Boards cannot be located on a team-managed project, so you'll have to choose one of your company-managed projects if you don't want it to live on your profile
  6. Click Create board

Congrats! You now have a board where you can view the Sprint Report for your team-managed project's issues. You can find it by selecting Reports > Sprint report on the left of the board view.

You can also manage your project's issues and sprints directly from this new board, if you'd like. All other project functions can still be accessed through the original project's board as well.

Reports on team-managed projects

The above steps aren't strictly necessary to get details about sprints on your team-managed projects. By default, team-managed projects include these report types:

  • Burnup report
  • Sprint burndown chart
  • Velocity report
  • Cumulative flow diagram
  • Cycle Time Report
  • Deployment Frequency Report

But, you may be used to the view of the Sprint Report on a company-managed project. If you're looking to have that exact report view, but applied to data from a team-managed project, this solution is for you!
