After creating new statuses in Jira, these statuses are not seen in Jira Align
Summary
After new statuses have been created in Jira, the statuses will not be available to be used in the Jira Align connector settings, resulting in it not being possible to configure State or Process Step Mappings.
Environment
Jira Align
Diagnosis
- The Jira Statuses that are not available in Jira Align have only recently been created in Jira
- Jira Statuses that have existed for some time are available in Jira Align.
Cause
There are two possible causes:
- The new Jira Statuses have not been added to an Active Workflow
- No action has been taken in Jira Align to retrieve the new Jira configuration information
Solution
- In Jira, check that each new status has been added to a Workflow - go to Settings > Issues > Statuses, locate the status and check the list of workflow associations for the status.
- If the status is not linked to a workflow, then correct this (either by creating a new workflow or updating an existing workflow)
- In Jira, check to confirm that at least one of the workflows associated with the status is active and linked to a Project that is synchronized to Jira Align. Go to Settings > Issues > Workflows, make sure that Active Workflows is selected, and then review the list.
- If a workflow needs to be made active then go to the Workflow Schemes section and add the relevant workflow to a Workflow Scheme (making the workflow active)
- If a workflow needs to be associated to a specific Jira Project then go to the Project settings (located at the bottom of the left sidebar of the Project page for that project) and in the Workflows section make sure the desired Workflow is shown, using Switch Scheme to change the association ( if needed )
- Once Jira has been correctly configured, in Jira Align, go to Settings > Jira Settings > Resync configuration and click Configuration data pull
- Allow time for this operation to complete (if a refresh of the page shows the Configuration data pull button has reappeared then the process has completed)
The new Jira Statuses should now be available to be configured for State and Process Step Mappings
The Jira menu locations refer to those seen in Jira Cloud,. As such, the information provided may need to be adjusted for the self-hosted version of Jira Server or Jira Data Centerif a different menu structure is used by those versions.
