Summary

After opening a Program Room (Program > select Program) and choosing a specific Program Increment (PI) in the left side bar, then the content of the Release Vehicle section, found in the right side bar, may show Release Vehicles that are associated to different PIs (and also not show Release Vehicles that are associated to the selected PI). As shown in the example from an Atlassian Test Environment below:

Checking the details of each affected Release Vehicle (via Items > Release Vehicles) shows that all the affected Release Vehicles are linked to the correct PIs

Cause

The Release Vehicle section in the Program Room is displaying those Release Vehicles that are linked to the Features in the same Program Room. The display is not looking  at the actual PIs set in those Release Vehicles at all.  If the PI set in a Feature is mismatched  from the PI of the Release Vehicle attached to that same Feature then the issue will be seen.

It is also possible to manually adjust a Release Vehicle to associate it to a different PI, resulting in a similar condition.  The Jira Connector may not revert such a change 

Solution

Check each feature, under the same Program and PI, for mismatches  between the PI set in the Feature and the Release Vehicle. Correcting the mismatches where necessary

• Where a Feature has been completed within a PI, but the Release vehicle is being released during a future PI then this behaviour is potentially desirable and the mismatch may need to remain in place
• Where the Release Vehicle has been completed (under a past PI) but the  Feature is still being worked (under a current/newer PI), then the Feature should be linked to a different Release Vehicle
• Where the Feature was completed in the timescale of the Release Vehicle PI, but was somehow linked to a newer PI, then the PI set in the Feature should be corrected, however this action may mismatch the sprints in the child stories of the Feature to the PI (unless they were already mismatched)
