The 'Rank' in the Jira Align Portfolio Epic Export
Summary
When Jira Align Portfolio Epics are exported, the exported downloaded 'Epics' spreadsheet has a column called 'Rank'. This article clarifies where the value represented by the 'Rank' column in the Portfolio Epic Export is coming from in the Jira Align UI.
Solution
The Rank shown in the exported Epics file represents the Program Rank of the Portfolio Epics. Please see below the steps to show the details of how users can validate in the Jira Align UI.
In Old Navigation Jira Align UI:
- Navigate to the Portfolio Epics page (without any filter in the Top Tier 1 Config)
- Then export Epics from More Actions > Export Portfolio Epics
- Then navigate to the Portfolio > Backlog > Portfolio Epic Backlog
- Then on the Backlog page, filter the Top Tier 1 Config with a specific Program filter only
- Note: Here let's consider user had already ranked the Epic list in the above Epic Backlog for the above Program filter prior to the export
- From the Epic Backlog list, user can see the Rank, which is the number displayed at the far left of an epic's row. This is the overall rank of the Epic for the program selected.
- Then going back to the file that was downloaded from the Export, in the Epics sheet, filter the file to show the Epics list from only the above selected Program (just to compare the Rank). For this, filter the 'Primary Program' column to the above same Program in the exported file.
- Then check the Rank shown in the Exported file which matches the Program Rank of the Portfolio Epics Backlog in the UI (Step 6 above)
In the New Navigation Jira Align UI:
- Navigate to the Portfolio Epics page
- Export Epics from More Actions > Export Portfolio Epics
- Then navigate to the top menu Program > Select a specific Program > No Program Increment filter on the left menu > Backlog > Portfolio Epic Backlog
- Then check the Rank shown in the Exported file which matches with the Program Rank of the Portfolio Epics Backlog in the UI (Step 5 above)
