Summary

The data collected by Asset Discovery when scanning devices using SNMP protocol is very limited. Only limited information beyond the hostname is retrieved.

Cause

The SNMP data out of the box is pretty limited as described on Commands executed by Assets Discovery - SNMP.

As every vendor can use SNMP MIBs in its own way, Atlassian can't know in advance which numbers are delivering the specific information. The SNMP patterns delivered with Discovery only have the MIB Information for some default SNMP Devices.

If you have the option to get the SNMP Information with numeric OIDs, by running an SNMP walk, then you will be able to see which MIBs are delivering which information.

Solution

You need to get the SNMP Information with numeric OIDs by running an SNMP walk in the device, then you will be able to see which MIBs are delivering which information, and you can create your own custom Pattern
There are some custom pattern examples that can be downloaded or use them as inspiration on how to write new ones to be able to retrieve your specific device model.
