Upgrading and Installing Jira 5.2.5 Fails to install Service Settings in Windows
Problem
- JIRA fails to start after upgrade or installing JIRA 5.2.5 using the Windows installer.
Diagnosis
- Upon checking on the services, the service for Atlassian JIRA is not started. When attempt to start, error message prompts to refer to System Logs for more information, refer below for the screenshot.
Cause
- This is caused by a expired public key that is included with the Windows installer for JIRA - See - JRA-31345Getting issue details... STATUS
Workaround
- Install the Windows Server manually. See detailed steps on how to do that here:
Note: You will need a Java Development Kit(JDK) in order to manually install the service successfully. Also, make sure to verify the system architecture (32-bit or 64-bit) as a 64-bit JDK will not be able to create a Windows Service for a 32-bit JIRA installation or vice versa.
Resolution
- Upgrade to JIRA 5.2.6
The certificate was renewed and released with JIRA 5.2.6
