Components in Jira automation

Automation rules are made up of three components:

  1. Triggers that kick off the rule
  2. Conditions that refine the rule
  3. Actions that perform tasks in your projects

You combine these components to create rules that automate tasks around Jira. For example, when an issue is created (trigger) and its priority is critical (condition), the rule sends a notification to one of your team members (action).

There are many pre-defined triggers, conditions, and actions that you can combine together to build your rules.
