Problem

When running a build, some jobs require Environment Variables. In some cases, Bamboo may not pick them up when it starts. This article will show the diagnosis and solution for this issue on Unix machines.

Diagnosis

Environment

  • OS: Linux, Mac OS X

Diagnostic Steps

  • Please run the command declare -px to see whether the variable in question is declared correctly.

Cause

The root cause is unknown.

Resolution

If your variable appears in the declare -px output, please restart Bamboo.

If your variable does not appear in the declare -px output, please be sure that it is set using the export command so it is available in new Terminals. For example:

export VARIABLE_NAME=variable_value
export FOO=bar
