Leave a workspace
Platform Notice: Cloud - This article applies to Atlassian products on the cloud platform.
Summary
- The purpose of this knowledge article is to explain the process behind leaving a workspace in Bitbucket Cloud.
- Leaving a workspace will also remove any repository access that is associated with the workspace. This is useful to perform when access to certain workspaces/repositories is no longer required.
Environment
- Bitbucket Cloud workspace
Solution
- Click your avatar in the top right corner of the screen, this will bring up a drop-down menu.
- Click "All Workspaces" within this drop-down menu to display a list of the workspaces to which your user account currently belongs.
- Find the workspace in question that you wish to leave on this list and click the "Leave" button under the "Actions" heading on the right side of the list.
- This will display a prompt to leave the workspace. To finalize the changes, you'll need to click the "Leave Workspace" button.
- Once this has been performed, check that you no longer have access to the workspace in question and any repositories associated with it.
If you can't see a Leave button, this could be for one of two reasons:
- The workspace you are a member of is part of the unified user management experience. As user management is performed via Atlassian Admin, you'll need to contact a site/organisational administrator to be removed from the workspace.
- If you are the only admin in a shared workspace, you'll not be able to leave until another user is added as an admin—this is to prevent permissions issues. You can verify this by navigating to Workspace Settings > User Groups and checking any groups labeled ADMIN.
If you are unable to successfully leave the workspace(s) after following the steps contained within this knowledge article - please feel free to raise a support ticket or raise a community support ticket for further assistance.
