Symptoms

Confluence will not start up.

The following appears in the atlassian-confluence.log:

Cause

Confluence requires a jar file that is missing or corrupted. 

Resolution

  • Download new copy of Confluence matching the installed version from http://www.atlassian.com/software/confluence/download
  • Verify complete download and extract to new location using archive utility
  • Copy any customized files to new location. (confluence-init.properties, server.xml, web.xml, etc.)
  • Startup Confluence.
