Symptoms

The Confluence Installer comes in 2 flavours: 64-bit, and 32-bit.

In some situations it's useful to know which version of Confluence Installer was used, such as upgrading or troubleshooting.

Resolution

There should be a JRE folder in your Confluence installation directory. Navigate to it and run the Java binary (or java.exe if you are using windows) with the following arguments:

-version

If you receive a message that doesn't contain "64-Bit", for example:

java version "1.6.0_33"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_33-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 20.8-b03, mixed mode, sharing)

then you've used the 32 bit version of the Confluence Installer.

If you receive a message that does contain "64-Bit", for example:

java version "1.6.0_45"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_45-b06-451-11M4406)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.45-b01-451, mixed mode)

then you've used the 64 bit version of the Confluence Installer.
