401 Unauthorized error - Jira Align Jira Connector
Summary
Jira Connector fails with a 401 Unauthorized error.
Environment
Jira Align
Diagnosis
401 Unauthorized error found in:
Administration > Jira Connector > View Logs > Jira API
Audit log of the work item being created on Jira Align (when Jira Connector is configured for bidirectional data sync to Jira)
Cause
Jira will return a 401 Unauthorized error if the Connector is configured with the wrong or incomplete authentication credentials.
Solution
Check whether the configured authentication credentials have changed or the token expired on the Jira side. Confirm that they are up to date and renewed. Once complete, review the Jira Connector configuration to ensure they are up to date for the Authentication type in use:
API token authentication (Cloud)
If the Jira Service account’s API token has changed, enter the updated token in the Connector panel. Refer to Manage API tokens for your Atlassian account to manage API tokens.
OAuth authentication (Cloud and Server/Data Center)
Follow steps 17-21 from Jira Align Cloud to Jira Data Center Connectivity (Quick Guide) to reauthorize OAuth access for a freshly generated token.
Personal access token (PAT) authentication (Server/Data Center)
If the Personal Access Token has changed/renewed, enter the updated token in the Connector panel. Refer to Using Personal Access Tokens to manage Jira PAT.
