In the steps below we’ll cover the necessary preparatory steps, the actual mapping process, and potential troubleshooting tips to map Jira custom fields to JA using the newly introduced Field Management Tab.

1. Create a Jira Custom Field(s) using the article

2. In JA under Settings > Details Panels Settings > [select a Portfolio] > Feature (Jira epics)

3. Create a 'Single Select Dropdown' custom field, save it, and turn the toggle ON

4. In Align under Settings > Jira Settings > Field management, map the Align field to its corresponding Jira field by clicking Add field which opens a slideout.

5. Select the Align field to map, the sync direction (only selectable if it can be changed) and the corresponding Jira field ID

7. Map the field values. On the left side select the Align value, and on the right side type the corresponding Jira value, then hit Enter on the keyboard. If multiple Jira values map to the same Align value (or vice versa), type multiple values into the Jira column. In the below example, Medium and Standard in Jira both map to Medium in Align. When syncing work items from Align to Jira, the value Medium will be used since it appears first with a . To change the default value, delete and re-add all values, starting with the desired default.

8. Hit Save to persist the change.

Potential Troubleshooting Tips

• The sync direction for feature fields is set by Allow feature sync from Jira Align to Jira setting on the Jira Setup tab. Make sure to select the desired option on the Jira Setup tab before mapping the fields here.
