Jira Align Feature Export: Parent Epic info not populating
Summary
When a feature is exported from the Feature Grid, Backlog, or Roadmaps, only the field designated as the Parent object will be populated by JA, being this the closest parent to the Feature.
Tip: To check what will be designated as Parent Object, add the column Parent Object to the view, if this columns shows the Capability icon, then the capability info will be filled and if the Epic icon appears, then the Epic info will be displayed
This leads to the following outcomes:
- Exporting features solely linked to an Epic will generate a spreadsheet with Parent Epic information filled.
- Exporting Features solely associated with a Capability will result in a spreadsheet with Capability information filled.
- Exporting Features connected to both an Epic and a Capability will produce a spreadsheet with Capability information filled.
Environment
Jira Align
Solution
While it may not be ideal for users who require easy access to epic parent information when exporting features where capabilities are enabled, this behaviour is expected as the Jira Align's intended design.
There is no solution or workaround and the following suggestion (enhancement request) was filed:
JIRAALIGN-7640: Export features: Include parent Epic info
