"No Jira Project was found" error seen in Jira Align when integrating a Jira Board
Summary
The following error is reported when trying to integrate a Jira Scrum Board to a Jira Align Agile Team
“No Jira project was found. Verify that the connector service account has permission to view the board and that the board has a filter share with the project. The board does not have any Jira Projects associated with it.”
Environment
Jira Align
Diagnosis
Navigate to Jira Align > Settings/Administration > Jira Management > Jira Boards
“No Project Found" errors will appear next to a board mapping as shown below (where the message is seen when you hover the mouse over the warning triangle):
Cause
This error will appear for one or more of the following reasons:
- The project entry does not exist in Jira Align > Settings / Administration > Jira Settings > Manage Projects (tab)
The connector service account does not have permission to view the board in Jira Software or the board was deleted
The board has a filter share without the parent project in Jira Software
The board has a filter share with multiple projects in Jira Software
- Editor permissions have been configured in the Filter Permissions of the board
Solution
This error can be resolved by checking that the Project is configured for Sync and that the Jira Filter share option is correct for the Jira Board throwing the error.
- Make sure the Jira Project has been added into Jira Align > Settings / Administration > Jira Settings > Manage Projects (tab)
Navigate to Jira board settings in Jira:
Open the Jira Board
Access the three dots in the upper right corner
Open the Board Settings
Check the Filter share option and ensure the Jira Board filter share includes the parent project of the board, does not include any other projects and is a Viewer share NOT an Editor Share. The below image shows only a single project share listed in the correct location for a Viewer share. If the project share shows in the Edits section just below then this can cause the error and needs correcting by clicking "Edit Filter Shares" and setting the project up as a Viewer Share (but also removing any Editor Shares)
The error will resolve itself after setting the board's filter share to include its parent project after the completion of the next automated board sync via the connector.
Please note that only a “Jira Project Admin" will have the right to edit the Jira Board filter shares.
