In Jira 9.5, we’re upgrading the H2 database from version 1.4.200 to version 2.1.214. The upgrade has fixed a bunch of vulnerability issues and boosted data security.

H2 isn't a production database. You should use it only for instance evaluation in a test environment.

The H2 database can’t automatically migrate your data from version 1.4.200 to 2.1.214 during the Jira upgrade. That’s why a Jira admin should migrate the backed-up data manually to the upgraded Jira instance.

For the smooth upgrade, take the following steps:

  1. Export the data from your current instance before the upgrade
  2. Upgrade your Jira to version 9.5
  3. Restore the exported data on the upgraded instance

1. Exporting the data

Export and back up the data from your current Jira instance before the upgrade
