Purpose

To guide JIRA users who would like to have a more generic sender name for their JIRA notifications.

Solution

Log in to Jira as a Jira admin (Jira project admin permissions are not sufficient).

1. Choose the Jira icon (, , ,  or ) > Jira settings > System
2. General Configuration > Edit Settings
3. Under Settings > Email from:

4. Change the value to either ${fullname}, text, or a combination of the two. The variables ${email} and ${email.hostname} are no longer supported.

   Value	Description	Example
   ${fullname}	The user's full name.	From: John Doe <jira@company.com>
   Text	Text only	From: Jira <jira@company.com>
   ${fullname} text	The user's full name, plus text.	From: John Doe (Jira) <jira@company.com>
