Symptoms

JIRA makes frequent requests to Google Analytics (www.google-analytics.com). Google Analytics usage has been deprecated as per our Data Collection Policy. However, older JIRA products and JIRA Add-ons may still make outbound requests to Google Analytics.


Cause

JIRA Agile Marketing Plugin enabled by default. This is a system plugin and this guide details the steps to take in order to prevent the web request being made from this Add-on. Other Add-ons, may make similar requests,

          Description                                   : Contributes project templates to JIRA that will trigger the installation of JIRA Agile


Workaround

Although Any Google analytics being sent from older versions of JIRA Server or JIRA add-ons are no longer being received, you may still like disable it. It is preferable if you disabled 1 of the modules rather than the whole plugin.

Resolution

1. Go to Manage Add-Ons
2. Change the filter from User Installed to System , locate JIRA Agile Marketing Plugin and click on it.
3. Click on the modules on the left. It might show 9 of 9 modules enabled .Once you click on it, you will see a list of modules.
4. Locate & disable the GreenHopper Advertising Web Resources module.
