"We can't communicate with your server" error in CCMA

Summary

Check what to do when the Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant (CCMA) raises the error message "We can't communicate with your server".

Overview

This error can have several causes; the most common is due to database configurations or performance issues.

Solution

  • Disable and re-enable the CCMA.
  • Considering that the CCMA does perform some heavy checks, which might look like idle connections.
    • Check the timeout parameters in your specific database and try to increase them.
    • Setup property hibernate.c3p0.validate to enable database reconnection, by following the steps in the document Surviving Database Connection Closures.
