Are the applications that users install themselves, which can be found in the 'Connected apps' section, subject to billing charges?

Summary

Are the user-installed applications listed in the 'Connected Apps' section subject to billing or any charges?

Environment

Jira Cloud

Solution

Please note you will not incur any charges associated with the 'dev' applications. To clarify, an app that is not installed by the system itself might display as a 'User-installed' app. Generally, Marketplace applications are indicated as being installed either by a user or an admin.

  • For example "Jira Cloud for spreadsheets" app is showing up as Installed by "User". This app is classified as a 3LO (Three-legged OAuth) app.

For an app to be recognized in a development context (where the 'dev' lozenge will appear), it must be manually installed by someone who contributes to either the Forge or 3LO application.

Thus, it's important to note that these direct installations are entirely separate from the Marketplace offerings. As such, they are not associated with any billing, and you won’t be charged for the usage of these applications.
