Speed up cloning times for distributed teams with Smart Mirroring

Smart Mirrors drastically improve Git clone performance for distributed teams working with large repositories within Bitbucket Data Center. It works by setting up one or more live mirror nodes to operate with read-only copies of repositories in remote locations, automatically synchronized from the primary Bitbucket instance. A mirror can host all or a user-selected subset of Bitbucket projects.

Read more about how Smart Mirroring works, or if you're ready to get started read Set up a mirror. The Smart Mirroring feature is for Bitbucket Data Center only. Contact us to obtain a Bitbucket Data Center evaluation license.

Support for Git Large File Storage (LFS)

It's no secret that Git does not play nicely with large files. Git Large File Storage (or LFS) is a new, open-source extension to Git that improves handling of large files. It does this by replacing large files in your repository—such as graphics and videos—with simple text pointers.

This means researchers, web designers, game developers, multimedia producers and all other developers who need to work with large data and rich media can move off legacy centralized systems and start using modern version control.

Smart Commits

Smart Commits allow repository committers to process JIRA Software issues using special commands in your commit messages. Bitbucket Server 4.2+ comes bundled with support for transitioning, commenting, and logging work to JIRA issues using commands entered directly into commit messages.

Smart Commits from Bitbucket Server work with JIRA Software 7.1+. For more details on using Smart Commits, see Using Smart Commits in Bitbucket Server
