Features available through application links
The following features are available when you link your products with application links. Unless clearly stated, they are available for all Jira applications: Jira Core, Jira Software, Jira Service Management.
Displaying issues on a page
You can add issues to a page by using the Jira issue macro or pasting the URLs. You can display a single issue, filter with multiple issues, or the total count of issues included in a filter.
Filter with multiple issues added to a page:
Single issue pasted onto a page:
The pages you add the issues to will also appear in your issues:
Linking issues to a page
You can open an issue in Jira, and select More > Link. When you switch to the Confluence page tab, you’ll be able to paste the URL of your Confluence page.
You won’t be able to search for Confluence pages because of a bug. You can only paste the URL.
Once you link the page, it will appear in your issue, but a reciprocal link won’t be added to a page. You might know this feature from server as ‘Jira links button', but it’s not available in Confluence Cloud.
Creating Jira issues from Confluence
You can create Jira issues in two ways:
Highlight some text on a page, and click Create issue.
Use the Jira issue macro. After adding the macro to a page, you can switch to the Create new issue tab.
In both of these options, the issue will be created in Jira, linked to your page, and also pasted onto your page.
Displaying issue and project information using charts
You can use the Jira charts macro to display three charts with information about your projects and issues:
Pie chart (report on different issue fields)
Created vs. Resolved chart
Two dimensional chart (show different issue statistics in a matrix)

Created vs. resolved
Two dimensional
Linking sprints and epics to pages
Available for Jira Software
You can create pages from sprints, and link sprints to existing Confluence pages:
You can also create pages from epics, and link epics to existing Confluence pages:
You can’t create and link to the created page at the same time.
For sprints, there’s a small glitch where linked pages show as “Page failed to load” instead of the page title. The link goes to the right page, though.
Unsupported features
The following features, which you might now from server, aren’t available in cloud:
Using Jira gadgets in Confluence
Confluence Cloud doesn’t include the option to register external gadgets, so you won’t be able to use any gadgets that you might know from server. Some cloud sites might still include the Activity Stream gadget (it was available without registering), but this gadget has been deprecated and is not available in new cloud sites.
Using Confluence gadgets in Jira
Although you can register and even add Confluence gadgets (Activity Stream, Confluence page, Confluence quicknav) to a Jira dashboard, they will not show any data.
Using 'Jira links' to see the list of issues linked to a page
Confluence Server included a Jira links button next to a page title that let you see all issues linked to this page. This button is not available in Confluence Cloud, so you can’t easily check which issues include links to a specific page.
OAuth with impersonation
OAuth with impersonation is one of the authentication types in application links. It has been deprecated in Atlassian cloud products and can’t be used. You can only use OAuth without impersonation.
Features available through in-product integrations
Using Confluence as knowledge base for Jira Service Management customer portals
Jira Service Management uses customer portals, where customers can raise requests to get the help they need. Customer portals work best with Confluence spaces that work as knowledge bases. Thanks to that, customers can find answers to their questions by searching articles written by support agents instead of going through the whole support requests flow.
You can learn more about using this feature in Set up a knowledge base with Confluence Cloud.
