Allowing anonymous access to your project
For all Jira Cloud products apart from Jira Software Free and Jira Work Management Free, you can allow users to view and create issues without logging in.
You can't edit project permissions or roles on the Free plan for Jira Software or Jira Work Management, and you can't configure issue-level security on any Free plan (including Jira Service Management). Find out more about how project permissions work in Free plans. To take advantage of Jira's powerful project permission management features, upgrade your plan.
If you allow anonymous access to projects while on a paid plan then change to a Free plan, the anonymous access will be removed.
Enable or disable anonymous access to Jira Cloud projects
- Choose Settings ().
- Choose Issues > Permission schemes.
- Click permissions for the permission scheme of the project that you want to enable or disable anonymous access for.
Anonymous access to view and search for issues in a project
- To allow users to view and search for issues in a project without logging in, add the Anyone group to the Browse Project permission in the permission scheme for the project.
- To make sure anonymous users can't view issues in a project, verify that the Browse Project permission is only granted to existing project roles, groups, users, or Any logged-in user.
Anonymous access to create issues in a project
- To allow users to create issues in a project without logging in, add the Anyone group to the Create Issue permission in the permission scheme for the project.
- To make sure users can't view issues in the project, verify that the Create Project permission is only granted to existing project roles, groups, users, or Any logged-in user.
Any issue created by a user who's not logged in displays "Anonymous" for the reporter of the issue.
You should also ensure that the anonymous user is able to complete and submit all required fields. For example, if you make the Due Date field required, the anonymous user will also need to have the Schedule Issue permission.
Anonymous access to shared filters or dashboards:
To find out who a filter or dashboard is shared with:
- Choose Settings ().
- Choose System > Shared filters or Shared dashboards.
- Review the Shared with column for both dashboards and filters.
If a filter or dashboard is shared with Public, the name of the filter or dashboard will be visible to anonymous users. They will be able to see issues (or data about issues) in the filter or dashboard if the project that the issue is in grants access to anonymous users (as described above).
Add or remove anonymous access to shared filters or dashboards
- C lick the more icon (•••) and Change Filter Owner to yourself
- Go to Filters or Dashboards > View all filters (or View all dashboards)
- C lick the more icon (•••) and choose Edit
- In the Shares section, add or remove "Public" as one of the sharing options.
Anonymous users will have access equivalent to Jira Work Management users. In other words, they can view issues and work in any type of project, but they won't see product-specific features, like agile boards, which are Jira Software-specific features. See Discover Jira Cloud products for more information.
