Discover Jira Cloud products
The Jira Cloud product family is built on top of the Jira platform to deliver a tailored experience to you and your teams. Jira Work Management is the default Jira product and will always be part of your Jira site. You can add Jira Software, and Jira Service Management to boost the functionality and project templates available on your site.
Jira Cloud also offers different plans to suit your team size and needs. Find out more about Jira Cloud plans.
Product features and project types
Project templates come with default workflows, issue types, issue fields, user roles, and other product-specific features (such as reports or customer portals) that make up the tailored Jira experience. Most Jira Cloud products use company-managed project templates, which provide the flexibility and power that Jira is known for. If you use Jira Software, you can explore team-managed project templates for a simpler, more easily customizable experience.
Here's an overview of the Jira Cloud products and their associated project templates:
Jira Software
For software development teams. Integrate with development tools, strengthen your team's agile work practices, and manage product releases.
Check out the Jira Software Cloud documentation.
Project types
Kanban (Team-managed)
For agile teams who want a fast setup and easier configuration experience. Monitor work in a continuous flow with a simple board that helps limit the amount of in-progress tasks.
Scrum (Team-managed)
For agile teams who want a fast setup and easier configuration experience. Plan upcoming work in a backlog, organize cycles of work into sprints, and monitor progress with a simple board.
Kanban (Company-managed)
Monitor work in a continuous flow (rather than in sprints). Suits agile teams who control work volume and priorities from a backlog.
Scrum (Company-managed)
Manage stories, tasks, and workflows for a scrum team. For agile teams that work from a backlog, plan and estimate their work in sprints, and deliver work on a regular schedule.
Bug tracking (Company-managed)
Manage a list of development tasks and bugs. Great for teams who don't need a board.
Jira Service Management
For IT and service teams. Set up service level agreements (SLAs) and customizable web portals for a successful service to create a streamlined service process. Manage permission schemes to allow access to an unlimited number of end-users (customers).
Check out the Jira Service Management Cloud documentation.
Project types
IT service project
Organize IT service requests using ITSM workflows and issue types. Suits internal teams managing incidents and changes.
Internal service project

Jira Work Management
Available to all licensed users of Jira. Recommended for business teams managing a variety of projects including marketing campaigns, HR onboarding, approvals, and legal document reviews.
Check out the Jira Work Management documentation.
Project types
Project management
Manage activities for completing a business project. Use boards (with To do, In progress, and Done statuses) for time-based or deliverable-based projects.
Task tracking
Organize tasks for a team or a personal project. Use simple boards (with a To do and Done status) like an extended to-do list.
Process control
Track activities and tasks for recurring processes. Recommended for processes that have defined steps or more than three statuses (e.g. To do, In progress, Under review, Approved, Done).
Content management
Manage the content lifecycle from draft to delivery. Perfect for processes requiring a review and approval step.
Recruitment
Monitor candidates from application to offer with cards and statuses that showcase each step of the hiring process. Suits teams that frequently hire new people.
Document approval
Manage documents from creation to approval. Ideal for policies, contracts, or any critical document. Boards come with multiple approval steps and showcase issue due dates.
Lead tracking
Track sales opportunities through to conversion. Excellent for managing small sales teams. Use the board statuses and built-in reports to track sales as a team.
Procurement
Track all purchases from request to receipt. Ideal for formalizing your purchasing process with clear workflow steps and default reports.
Product licensing and access
As Jira Work Management is the default product, all users who have a license for Jira Software, or Jira Service Management will automatically have access to Jira Work Management without requiring an additional license.
Create project access
Jira admins can create projects from any template. By default, any user can create their own team-managed projects. (like the team-managed Scrum or team-managed Kanban projects). Jira admins can change this setting in global permissions.
Application access
All users who can log in to a Jira Cloud site will be able to see all the projects they have access to on that site, but they will only be able to see the product-specific features (e.g. Jira Software release versions) when they have application access.
For example, a Jira Software user can view development information on an agile board and can also view business projects, since they have both a Jira Software and a Jira Work Management license.
A Jira Work Management user can search for and view a software project, but will not be able to see the product-specific features, such as agile boards and development information. Likewise, a Jira Software user would not be able to see any Jira Service Management-specific features on a service project, and would only see a basic view of the project and its issues.
Anonymous access
Anonymous users will have access equivalent to Jira Work Management users. In other words, they can view issues and work in any type of project, but they won't see application-specific features, e.g. agile boards, which are Jira Software-specific features. See Allowing anonymous access to your project to learn more.
