JIRA Service Desk is a JIRA add-on, which makes it easy to install and set up through the Atlassian Marketplace. Visit the "Add-ons" section of the JIRA administration pages to install the plugin. If you need to configure your JIRA Service Desk log in to your account at http://my.atlassian.com.

If you use JIRA OnDemand, you don't need to install JIRA Service Desk, as it is supplied under Atlassian's Hosted Commercial Add-ons program.

Review these installation pre-requisites before you get started:

  • You must have the 'JIRA System Administrators' global permission to install JIRA Service Desk.
  • If you are using a commercial (i.e. not an evaluation) license for JIRA Service Desk, it must match your JIRA license. For example, if you have a JIRA 25 User Commercial license you must have a JIRA Service Desk 25 User Commercial license. JIRA Service Desk evaluation licenses do not need to match JIRA licenses.
  • JIRA Service Desk is available with the following language packs: Spanish, French, German, and Japanese.

Supported JIRA versions

You can use JIRA Service Desk with JIRA 5.2 and later.

JIRA Service Desk is installed as a JIRA add-on (plugin), hence JIRA Service Desk is supported on all platforms that are supported by JIRA. For details, please see JIRA Supported Platforms.

Disabling JIRA Service Desk for a project

After you've installed JIRA Service Desk and began using it, you can disable a service desk for any specific project without uninstalling JIRA Service Desk. To disable a service desk for a project, go to the project administration page and use the Service Desk page to disable it.
