Clean up a space with Content Manager
Use Content Manager to delete multiple pages from a space. It shows the space's page tree in a table, so you can select pages and review the full impact before deleting them.
Before you begin
Content Manager is available in Confluence Data Center 10.2.15 and later. You need space administrator permission to use it. If you do not see Content Manager, ask your Confluence administrator to confirm that the feature is enabled.
In Confluence Data Center, Content Manager supports bulk page deletion.
How Content Manager works
Content Manager displays pages in a hierarchical tree. Expand a page to see its child pages, and select Load more when more pages are available.
Selecting a parent page includes its child pages in the selection.
The selection count includes selected pages and their descendants.
Content Manager checks the pages that your permissions allow you to delete before you confirm the operation.
Deletion runs as a background task, so you can monitor progress from the status banner.
Delete multiple pages
Go to the space that contains the pages you want to remove.
Go to Space tools > Content Manager.
Use the page tree to find the pages you want to delete. Expand pages or select Load more as needed.
Select the checkboxes for the pages you want to delete.
Review the number of pages selected in the action bar. Selecting a parent can include child pages that are not currently expanded.
Select Delete.
In the confirmation dialog, review the number of pages that will be affected and any warning about pages that cannot be deleted because of permissions.
Select Delete to start the background operation. Track its progress in the banner at the top of the page.
What happens when you delete pages
Pages that Content Manager deletes move to the space trash. You can restore them from the trash if needed.
If a selected parent has child pages that you do not have permission to delete, those child pages are left in the page tree and move up to the nearest surviving ancestor page, or the space root, whichever comes first.
Confluence enforces a server-configured maximum number of pages per bulk deletion. Reduce your selection if Content Manager reports that you have exceeded the limit.
Deleting a parent page can affect more pages than are visible in the current tree view. Always review the selection total and the confirmation dialog before you delete.
Limitations
It does not currently offer the following Cloud Content Manager capabilities:
Bulk page moving
Bulk archiving
Bulk ownership changes
It also only allows selection of pages within a space, not attachments, blogposts or other content types
Tips for a safer cleanup
Start with a small selection to confirm that the pages and permissions are what you expect.
Expand parent page rows before deleting them when you need to inspect individual child pages.
Use the confirmation dialog's permission warning to identify content that will remain in the tree.
After a large deletion, check the space trash and page tree to confirm the result.
