When you're up to speed and working in your team, you might want to just see how things are going. This is especially applicable to scrum teams, who work within sprint deadlines. Here's how to use JIRA Software gadgets and reports to find out the critical stuff.

Dashboard gadgets

What you want to know about your team (say, as a developer) is different than what the team leader wants to know. Dashboard gadgets let you personalise what you see and give you short cuts to important info.

Add a dashboard gadget

  1. Go to the dashboard by selecting the Dashboard link in the header.
  2. On the dashboard, Click Add Gadget.
  3. Use the gadget wizard to choose the gadgets you want to add. You can see a list of these gadgets in Gadgets for JIRA applications.

Here's a few useful ones for tracking progress

Issues in progressTime to work! See all issues that are currently in progress and assigned to you.
Days in remaining sprint*Countdown! See how many working days you have before the current sprint ends.

Reports

Most team members don't need to be concerned about reports from day to day, but if you like to keep your eye on things, these reports are the most useful.

Burndown Chart

A Burndown Chart shows the actual and estimated amount of work to be done in a sprint. The horizontal x-axis in a Burndown Chart indicates time, and the vertical y-axis indicates cards (issues).

See Burndown Chart

Sprint Report

The Sprint Report shows the list of issues in each sprint. It is useful for your Sprint Retrospective meetings, and also for mid-sprint progress checks.

See Sprint Report

Release Burndown

The Release Burndown report shows you how your team is progressing against the work for a release.
