Workflow validators

Validators check for certain data before a workflow transition occurs. If the validation passes, then the transition succeeds. If the validation fails, the transition is prevented.

You need to be a Jira administrator

Workflow validators are part of Jira workflows. You need to be a Jira admin to configure them.

Available workflow validators

ProForma offers three workflow validators:

At least one form is included on the issue

This validator ensures that at least one form is included on the issue. Use this rule for processes where one ProForma form is expected to be included in the issue.

To add this validator to your workflow:

  1. Open your workflow and select Edit.
  2. Select a transition that should include this validator.
  3. Select Validators, and then Add validator.
  4. Select the ProForma Forms: Form(s) attached validator.

All forms are submitted

This validator checks that all ProForma forms that are on the issue are submitted (the issue cannot transition if any of the forms are in an Open state). This ensures that users filling out forms have designated the form as complete before the issue can transition.

To add this validator to your workflow:

  1. Open your workflow and select Edit.
  2. Select a transition that should include this validator.
  3. Select Validators, and then Add validator.
  4. Select the ProForma Forms: Form(s) submitted validator.

A specific form is included and submitted

This validator checks that a specific ProForma form is in a submitted state on the issue, thereby ensuring that the issue cannot be transitioned without the identified form being complete.

To add this validator to your workflow:

  1. Open your workflow and select Edit.
  2. Select a transition that should include this validator.
  3. Select Validators, and then Add validator.
  4. Select the ProForma Forms: Specific form submitted validator.

Alternatively, you can configure this validator from the Settings tab of a form.
