Finding new add-ons

This page describes how administrator's find and install add-ons from the Atlassian Marketplace in the add-on administration pages.

The Find new add-ons page lets you browse the Atlassian Marketplace from the application interface. This in-product view of the Marketplace tailors your browsing experience your application, and only shows you add-ons compatible with your instance. So, for example, only Confluence add-ons appear when browsing from within Confluence. JIRA add-ons aren't restricted to specific JIRA applications.

Administrators and non-administrators alike can browse the Marketplace within the Atlassian application. But while system administrators download and install add-ons through the Find new add-ons page, non-administrators use the page to request add-ons. This in-product view of the Marketplace gives everyday users a role and voice in identifying what add-ons can help them do their work. See Managing user requests for add-ons for information about user requests for add-ons.

Finding and installing add-ons from the Marketplace

Administrators can find and install add-ons from Marketplace in the add-on administration pages as follows:

  1. As a system administrator, navigate to the application's administration console and click the Find new add-ons link.

If the link does not appear in the Configuration menu, make sure that UPM is in online mode and the application is able to connect to the Internet through the network firewall.

The in-product view of the Atlassian Marketplace appears.

  2. Find add-ons by:
    • Browsing the list.
    • Entering a search string in the Search the Marketplace box. The search returns add-ons based on a case-insensitive comparison of the add-on name.
    • Using the pull-down menus to filter add-ons by attributes like top-grossing, recently added, or staff-selected. You can also filter by pricing scheme like free, paid-via-Atlassian, or paid.
  3. To install an add-on, click the Install button for free add-ons or the Buy now or Free trial buttons for paid add-ons.
A confirmation message and details appear when the add-on is installed successfully.
  4. If prompted, restart your application to have your change take effect.

An individual add-on may have its own setup and configuration requirements. In these cases, reference the Documentation link in the add-on's detail view.
