Customizing view settings
You can customize the view settings of your plan, to make it easier for your audience to consume the data in your plan. By customizing the view settings, you can make your timeline display the right information, with the right visuals for you and your audience.
In the sample plan below, both group by and color by settings are used at the same time, i.e. group issues by project and color issues by status.
Settings for grouping issues
You can group issues into separate swimlanes by assignee, project, or team. This helps you quickly see the buckets of work in their allocated swimlanes.
Note that when you group issues, you won't be able to create an issue from the top of the scope section. You'll need to create new issues directly from the corresponding groups.

Settings for coloring issues
Color issues by status, team, or label, or by the corresponding values of any single-choice select and multiple-choice select custom fields being used in the plan.
Specifically when coloring issues by label, there are a few considerations to keep in mind. See Coloring issues by label for more details.

Settings for rolled-up values
For parent issues, you can choose to display a preview of the rolled-up values (estimates, teams, and releases) of the child issues in the corresponding fields.
In the example below, the values of teams are being rolled up, from the child issues to the parent issues.
In this example, you have the parent initiative TIS-118, with the following child epics: PERF-2 and PERF-6. Drilling down further, PERF-2 is also the parent epic of the child stories PERF-3, TIS-128, and TIS-148. The teams for the child stories have already been selected.
With rolled-up values enabled, PERF-2 is displaying the rolled-up value of Performance Engineering for its team. The same team value then rolls up to the parent initiative, TIS-118.
This doesn't mean that these teams are set in stone — this is just a preview, and you can still choose the teams for the epic and initiative here. You can still even change up the teams of the child stories, if needed.
Customizing view settings
- In your plan, click the View settings drop-down.
- As needed, select which settings to use, for any of the following options:
- Group by, to group issues into separate swimlanes by assignee, project, or team.
- Color by, to color issues by status, team, label, or by the corresponding values of any single-choice select and multiple-choice select custom fields being used in the plan.
- Select the Show rolled-up values checkbox, if you want to view the rolled-up values of child issues at the parent hierarchy level.
After customizing the view settings, you can still interact with the issues in the plan, e.g. dragging and dropping issues, or assigning issues to teams.
