Bitbucket Data Center and Server 8.10 release notes

2 May 2023

Introducing Bitbucket Data Center and Server 8.10.

Highlights include:

Stricter controls for more settings

SERVER DATA CENTER

In 8.8, we added stricter controls for permissions, SSH keys, and the access tokens repository settings. In this release, we’ve now added controls for hooks, merge checks, merge strategies, and branch settings to help you create consistent settings across all repositories in your project. Other changes and improvements

New SSH, HTTP, and SCM ticket metrics via JMX monitoring and log file

SERVER DATA CENTER

Access new SSH, HTTP, and SCM Ticket metrics through JMX monitoring for efficient in-product diagnostics and timely resolution of performance issues.

The metrics are available through JMX, as well as the new log file atlassian-bitbucket-ipd-monitoring.log which can be found in the <local-home>/logs directory.

To use these metrics, you must have first enabled JMX monitoring.

Automatic branch merge is now cascading merge

SERVER DATA CENTER

We’ve renamed the “automatic merging” feature in branch settings to “cascading merge” to make way for an exciting new feature coming later this year. We’ve also renamed this term throughout the Bitbucket user interface, including email notifications and the following audit log events:

  • Auto merge succeeded
  • Auto merge failed
  • Auto-merge configuration changed

Needs work is now changes requested

SERVER DATA CENTER

We’ve renamed the pull request status “Needs work” to “Changes requested” in response to feedback from users that the "needs work" language felt too strong.

H2 database migration requirement

The H2 database driver has been upgraded to the currently latest version 2.2.220. The upgrade has boosted data security.

If you’re upgrading to Bitbucket 8.8 and later or Mesh 1.5 and later, you’ll need to migrate the data manually to the upgraded Bitbucket or Mesh instance if:

  • you’re using a mirror

  • you’re using Bitbucket Server with a H2 database

  • you’ve set up Bitbucket Mesh

Updates to supported platforms

Bitbucket 8.10 now includes support for running:

  • Maria DB 10.10 and 10.11
