This release adds new and exciting improvements in security and developer productivity.

Mark files "unread" in pull request

We understand that in large pull requests, keeping track of reviewed and pending files can be a challenge. We’ve now introduced the ability to mark files as "unread" in the pull request diff view so you can revisit the files you’ve already opened.

Announcement banner in Terminal

We've added a few enhancements to the announcement banner. From now on, when it is turned on, it will be displayed not only in the UI but also in the terminal window for git push operations. Learn more about the announcement banner

Support of .webp and .avif images

We’ve added support for modern image formats: .web and .avif. You can start using these new image formats to collaborate on pull requests.

Encryption of properties in Bitbucket config file

In Bitbucket 7.8 we allowed the encryption of database passwords stored in the bitbucket.properties file for extra protection. In this release, we are pleased to extend encryption functionality to other properties. All the values of the bitbucket.properties can be encrypted with a preferred encryption method. H2 database migration requirement

The H2 database driver has been upgraded to the currently latest version 2.2.220. The upgrade has boosted data security.

If you’re upgrading to Bitbucket 8.8 and later or Mesh 1.5 and later, you’ll need to migrate the data manually to the upgraded Bitbucket or Mesh instance if:

you’re using a mirror
you’re using Bitbucket Server with a H2 database
you’ve set up Bitbucket Mesh
