This change log aims to give you an overview of what's changed since our last Long Term Support release. As 6.13 is our second Long Term Support release for Confluence, we'll give you a round up of everything that's happened since Confluence 6.6.

About Long Term Support releases
We recommend upgrading Confluence regularly, however if your organisation's process means you only upgrade about once a year, upgrading to a Long Term Support release may be a good option, as it provides continued access to critical security, stability, data integrity and performance issues until this version reaches end of life.

Technical upgrade notes

This table is a high level summary of the upgrade notes, you should read the full upgrade notes before upgrading.

6.7

Important notes:

  • Confluence gets a new color scheme in this release. If you've customized the color scheme (globally or in individual spaces), we won't change any of the colors you've specified.  We'll only update any colors that you left unchanged.
  • New health check to confirm that the size of your HTTP thread pool (MaxThreads) is not greater than your database connection pool.
Upgrade Notes
6.8

Important notes:

  • To use the Confluence mobile app, your site must use HTTPS, have a certificate from a trusted Certificate Authority, and your proxy must allow TLS1.2 traffic.
  • If your site is not accessible on the public internet, people will need to be connected to your network or VPN when using the app.
Upgrade Notes
6.9

Important notes:

  • When running Confluence in an IPv6 environment you need to still allow IPv4 traffic, and there are a number of places where you will need to use a fully qualified domain name, rather than a raw IPv6 address (for example when connecting to a database).
Upgrade Notes
6.10

Important notes:

  • This release bundles Apache Tomcat 9. Some options added in this Tomcat version are not yet supported in Confluence, including HTTP/2 and multiple TLS virtual hosts for a single connector with each virtual host supporting multiple certificates.
Upgrade Notes
6.11

Important notes:

  • The existing Edit with Office option has been replaced with a new feature that allows users to edit any type of file. To edit, users will need to download and install the Atlassian Companion app and have it running in the background.
  • We've made a change to how tables that contain large images are resized when exporting pages to PDF.
  • Scheduled XML daily backup is now disabled by default for sites with a Data Center license.
  • A new diagnostics feature is coming soon. You may see some new messages in your log files. No action is required for these messages.
Upgrade Notes
6.12

Important notes:

  • Data Center admins can now choose to let Confluence manage Synchrony, as in Confluence Server. If you choose this option, you'll need to allow an additional 2GB RAM for the Synchrony process on every Confluence node.
  • PDF export is now handled by the external process pool in Data Center.
  • Add-ons have been renamed to "Apps"
Upgrade Notes

  • There is a known issue when running Confluence on Linux with AdoptOpenJDK. You may need to install a font configuration package.
  • New Infrastructure recommendations for enterprise Confluence instances on AWS can help you plan a suitable environment, or check whether your current instance is adequate for the size of your content and traffic.
  • 6.13.6 added system property to re-enable Edit in Office, which was replaced by Companion app in Confluence 6.11.
  • 6.13.18 upgraded the bundled PostgreSQL JDBC driver to 42.2.16.
  • 6.13.20 upgraded the bundled PostgreSQL JDBC driver to 42.2.18.
