v7.1.0 - 11 February 2016
The Atlassian JIRA Core team is proud to announce the release of JIRA Core 7.1. We've worked hard on improving a lot of features and functions, and we've listed the changes below.
Known bug
We've identified a bug with JIRA platform 7.1 which affects this release. If you've installed or upgraded to this version, and you attempt to install or update an add-on through the Add-ons page, JIRA will report an error. The add-on will be correctly installed, and you will need to perform a restart of JIRA to resume normal operation. The bug should not present itself again. Information on how to stop and restart JIRA can be found on the appropriate operating systems installation guide.
Changes
Project issue view
The new "project issue view" for JIRA Core gives you an expanded view of any issue from within a project. Just click the icon or an issue link in an issue...
And the target issue will be displayed like this...
This new view works exactly like the regular issue view (e.g. keyboard shortcuts, pagination, inline editing, etc) but you'll get much more space without losing the project sidebar.
Create a new linked issue
Ever needed to escalate an issue, or create an issue for another team that you've then had to link back to your original issue? Well we've now introduced Create new linked issue, which allows you to create a new issue in a different project, link it to your original issue, link additional issues if needed, and decide whether to copy attachments and links. That means you can ensure all pertinent information is available in the new linked issue. The Summary and Description is also copied across, but you can edit it before you save, to make sure it has all the info required. Try it out for yourself, browse to an issue in a business project and select More > Create new linked issue.
Imagine you work for your company's Talent department, you have an issue for a new starter, Alistair, and you need to order him a chair. Now you can easily create a linked issue in the Facilities project, and make sure all the info is correct. That way, you've easily linked the new issue so you can trace progress of the chair order.
Viewing your versions
The drop-down for selecting quick filters on the Versions (JIRA Core) page has been removed and persistent 'sticky' labels added in its place. This allows you to quickly filter your versions by Released or Unreleased. The search bar has also been improved.
Editing security levels
We've updated Security Levels so that they're now editable, and finally closed off a long standing issue .
Previewing attachments
Previewing attachments just got easier, and you can now preview PDF's without having to download them first.
Sub-task bulk editing
We've made bulk editing of issues more powerful, you now have more options when converting sub-tasks to issues, and issues to sub-tasks.
Bug-fix improvements
