You can use a theme to personalise the 'look and feel' of Confluence. Some themes simply change the basic styling, others add new functionality or significantly alter the appearance of Confluence. You can apply a theme to your entire Confluence site and to individual spaces.

Confluence comes with a selection of themes.

In addition, a site administrator can install new themes as plugins via the Confluence Administration Console.

Provided that the theme is available in your Confluence site, any space administrator can apply a theme to a space. By default when you create a new space, the space will have the Confluence default theme.

To apply a theme across the site:

  1. Choose the cog icon  at top right of the screen, then choose Confluence Admin.
  2. Choose Themes in the left-hand panel.
  3. The screen will display all available themes. Select a radio button to choose a theme.
  4. Choose Confirm.

Would be nice if the page tree shown in the Documentation Theme has the expandCollapseAll parameter set to true.

    1. Hi,

I have a mere suggestion, you might want to edit the page.vmd in the documentation theme jar file. To do so, could you please follow the steps shown below:

      1. Find the documentation theme .jar file via <confluence install>\WEB-INF\classes\com\atlassian\confluence\setup\atlassian-bundled-plugins.zip
      2. Now extract the doctheme-<version>.jar file
      3. Now look for the page.vmd file via <location of the jar file>\doctheme\decorators
      4. open it with a simple editor (eg: notepad)
      5. Now locate the following code:
      6. Replace the above code to the following:
      7. Now replace the page.vmd in the jar file and replace the jar file in the atlassian-bundled-plugins.zip
      8. Now restart your instance for the configuration to take place.

      Hope that helps.
      Cheers,
      Zed

Is there any way of applying a theme to a specific collection of pages within a space? I dont want to apply the theme to the whole space.

      Hi Anonymous,

While not aware of changing multiple themes at a time, each spaces theme can be changed by a Systems Administrator (permissions / Confluence Systems Administrator, member of confluence-administrators)  via the Browse button at the top of the Space's page.  (My problem is this Browse button has disappeared, thus without it I can not get to Space Details and the column you see on the left in the Documentation Theme)  Here is the menu options that you should see:

      Browse / Space Admin /

Of course if you do not have that 'Browse' button not sure what you would do.  Even Space Administrators have that, yet as a Systems Administrator, it disappeared for me sometime in the last two days and there have been no upgrades...weird.
