Preparing for Mindville Insight
Insight - Asset Management is now part of Jira Service Management Data Center. If you were using Insight as an app on earlier versions, it will be upgraded automatically to the version bundled with Jira Service Management. Depending on the version you're using, you might need to complete some pre-upgrade steps.
For more info about the required steps, see Upgrading Insight with Jira Service Management.
Image attachments in email notifications
These changes are for the Jira mail notifications, not for email notifications sent to Jira Service Management customers.
As you might have read in the release notes, we’ve fixed the issue with image attachments not being displayed in email notifications. Images now include security tokens that allow your users to view the images within 7 days, by default. You can change the expiry time in Administration > System > Advanced settings by editing the jira.security.image.attachment.jwt.tokens.expiry.hours setting.
Changes to email templates
For this feature, we’ve also edited the following email templates:
<jira-shared-home>/data/templates/email-batch/html/footer.vm
<jira-shared-home>/data/templates/email/html/includes/footer.vm
We’ve added a hyperlink to an article that describes possible problems with images caused by a disabled VPN or Jira not being allowlisted in Gmail. Here’s the article: Image attachments are not displayed in emails
If you’re using customized email templates, you can add this link too (both to help your users and keep the templates up-to-date), but the feature will work perfectly fine without these changes. For more info about editing email templates, see Customizing email content
Changes in the web.xml file for image attachments
While improving image attachments in email notifications, we've also made changes to the web.xml file. The changes include new paths to servlets responsible for image attachments. When upgrading, make sure to use the new web.xml file and copy your custom modifications to it rather then using the old file. Otherwise, Jira will look for old servers and attachments won't be displayed.
We've already had a bug related to this, you can see the details here: - JRASERVER-41675Getting issue details... STATUS
Known vulnerability in the BKS-V1 keystore format
If you’re running Jira over SSL, we’d like to bring your attention to a security vulnerability of the BKS-V1 keystore format, provided by the BouncyCastle library. We strongly recommend that you don’t use it in your Jira instance. Learn more
