Manage inline comments in the editor

For: DATA CENTER SERVER

Action feedback swiftly now that you can view, like, resolve, close, delete, and quickly navigate between inline comments in the editor – where you need it most.

This highly-requested feature has been in the works for a long time, and now that it's out in the wild, we can't wait to see how this accelerates the editing process for teams everywhere.

See Comment on pages and blog posts to learn more about these changes.

Tip: Use these new keyboard shortcuts to quickly navigate between comments.

  • In view mode, use 'n' (next inline comment) and 'p' (previous inline comment)

  • In the editor, use cmd+shift+O and cmd+shift+L for MAC, or ctrl+shift+O and ctrl+shift+L for PC

Never miss an inline comment again

For: DATA CENTER SERVER

Easily discover inline comments on the page you’re viewing by selecting View inline comments from page tools, or by hitting 'v' on your keyboard. This feature is great for long pages or pages that use the Expand macro where content is hidden. Never miss an inline comment again!

Faster, simpler, and more reliable: a new way to backup and restore

For: DATA CENTER SERVER

Confluence's backup and restore system has undergone a complete upgrade with visible improvements to performance, stability, functionality, and appearance.

What's new?

  • Enjoy 10 to 50 times faster performance - our tests show the new system will run backup and restore tasks up to 10 times faster for medium instances, and up to 50 times faster for very large instances.

  • Multi-space backup and restore - create a multi-space backup to restore to another site; you can use this to batch-export large sites or to organize backups by project, team, or topic. Recent activity table - keep track of backup and restore jobs, and view their details without having to access the working logs.

  • Download XML backups from the admin console - once the backup is finished, you can now download the zip file to your local drive. This is great for small sites or multi-space backups.

  • User-friendly workflow - the user interface and functionality of backup and restore has been modernized to make a complex process simpler and more efficient.

System admins can try out this new backup and restore experience at Administration menu , then General Configuration. > Backup and restore.

See our Backup and Restore documentation for more information, and read our Confluence 8.3 Upgrade Notes for key changes to backup and restore you should be aware of before upgrading.

Scale how you copy spaces and space settings

For: DATA CENTER SERVER

We've bundled the Copy Space app with your Confluence installation for an out-of the-box way to copy your spaces and space settings. Now you won't need any additional apps or workarounds to duplicate a space, its themes, templates, or permissions.

This will be a time-saver for space admins that want to create a copy of an private space without comments or author names for public view, or if they want a scalable way to replicate space permissions and themes many times over.

Go to the space and choose Space tools from the bottom of the sidebar.. Then select Overview > Copy Space to check out this new feature, or see Copy a Space to learn more.

Screenshots: (1) Choose what you want to copy and (2) customize the space metadata you want to include.

Screenshot: (3) Space admins can copy their space look and feel, permissions, templates and more by selecting to copy Space settings only.

Note: If you use Confluence 8.2 or earlier, you should upgrade to the latest version of the Copy Space app, but it won't include all of the improvements we've made to the bundled version in Confluence 8.3 and later.
