Planned changes

In this section we'll provide an overview of the changes we intend to make, so you can start thinking how it might impact your app. We'll indicate when a change has been implemented, and in which milestone.

7.4 Enterprise release and 7.5 release timing

Confluence 7.4 will be an Enterprise release, and will contain no new features. For this reason, we're making 7.5 milestones available now, prior to the 7.4 release, so you can start testing your apps.

Changes to audit logging

Status: COMPLETE

The auditing feature tracks key activities in Confluence, allowing administrators to gain insight into the way their instance is being used. In Confluence 7.5 we're introducing a number of changes to help admins manage their log more effectively.

The new audit log curates events in coverage areas (for example, user management, security, apps) and allows admins to decide which of the coverage areas they want to track. Additionally, for each area, admins can select how detailed they want their log to be.

Data Center-only functionality

Some auditing functionality will only be available to customers with a Data Center license:

  • Advanced and Full coverage levels (in addition to the Base level offered with a Server license)
  • The option to integrate the audit log file with external tools
  • Space-level auditing for Space Administrators

New REST API for audit logging

As a result of changes to the Audit log, we’ve added new REST API endpoints. See Audit log API changes

Removal of limited mode

Status: COMPLETE

Collaborative editing limited mode was introduced in Confluence 6.0 for troubleshooting purposes. We've decided to remove this mode, because it is rarely used or needed anymore.

Editor improvements

Status: COMPLETE

We're working on some minor improvements to the editor including adding more table cell colours, and improving the appearance of the status macro in the editor.

Widget Connector

Status: COMPLETE

We're adding the ability to embed public content from Facebook, LinkedIn, Spotify, Figma, Prezi, and Microsoft Stream, and fixed some existing issues with Twitter, Google Calendar, and Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
